How many people can play on a team?

Each ticket supports up to 6 players. Everyone on your team downloads the City Sleuth app and enters the same ticket code on their own phone. You play together in person — the app keeps everyone in sync. Some games also offer a Solo ticket at its own price — the same mission, built for playing as one squad instead of two. How long does the game take?

Most teams finish in 2–3 hours. The route covers approximately 3km through the city, with 8–10 puzzle stops along the way. Your official time starts when you tap GO at the first location and stops when you complete the final stop.

Do I need to download an app?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the City Sleuth app is required to play. It's your map, puzzle decoder, and timer all in one. Download it for free on iOS or Android before your game day. Everyone on your team needs it on their own phone.

What is a Premiere event vs. Open Play?

Accepted Answer

Premiere events run during a specific window of dates — your team picks a day and start time at checkout. These are competitive: all Premiere teams are ranked on the same leaderboard and the top 3 win real medals. Open Play tickets have no fixed date and are valid for one year — perfect if you want flexibility, though Open Play teams are ranked separately.

Can I play at my own pace?

Yes, within your chosen time window. The clock is running, but there's no referee — you move through the city at whatever pace works for your team. Just know that your finishing time is what determines your leaderboard ranking.

What if it rains?

Accepted Answer

The game runs rain or shine. We recommend checking the forecast and dressing accordingly. The app and all puzzle elements are designed to work outdoors in typical weather conditions. If severe weather makes play unsafe, contact us and we'll work something out.

How do I get my medal if my team finishes in the top 3?

After the Premiere window closes and results are finalized, we'll reach out by email to collect your shipping address. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals are physically mailed to each team member. Allow 2–3 weeks for delivery.

What if I lose my ticket code?

Accepted Answer

Head to our Find My Code page and enter the email address you used at checkout. We'll email your booking codes straight to that inbox — no need to contact support.

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Tickets are non-refundable, but plans change — if you need to cancel (weather, illness, anything), contact us at hello@citysleuth.com and we'll issue a voucher for the same ticket type. It's good for any city and any date, and it never expires.

Is the game suitable for kids?

Accepted Answer

City Sleuth is designed for adults and older teens, but families with kids aged 12+ generally do well. The puzzles require critical thinking and some general knowledge. Younger children are welcome as part of a team but may need help with some challenges.
